Research part of Satire Project:
Gas Prices and how they vary is always an important issue to the citizens of America, as the prices become higher, there becomes more of a need to blame someone else. After reading many opinions on the websites I used to research I see that there are many opinions. Some of these opinions blame our president, Barack Obama, because he has control of our relationships with other countries. Though that could be partially accurate, no president has ever had the control to set gas prices alone since we have been relying on our Middle East providers for Oil.
As stated in an article there can be political reasons for blaming the president on prices of gas, (Rick Ungar) from Forbes Magazine wrote in 2012 about the blame of Obama for gas prices and how it could affect the campaign and how the idea of blaming Obama may have just been used to give the republicans an edge against the second-run of Barack Obama. This was also said saying that this situation was nothing new especially around elections times (by US News) Many People stated that the high gas prices are just by the greed of the oil companies, which would not have much to do with Barack Obama, (stated many times on Reader’s response: What should be done about them?[gas prices]) The company who own the supply normally control the market, and by the USA’s dependence on foreign oil we give our control up to foreign countries. I agree with those who say the president may have been able to change what we pay, but not by a very significant amount, and it may not have helped us that much in the end so why is it a big deal? I say because in politics, people look for other people to blame, maybe because they want to take their position, or they are a different political party.
